Decisions for college

Lesson of the day: Plans don't really work

Well world, you got me. Turns out I'm not as tough and smart as I thought I was in High School. This summer after high school graduation has been an amazing three months of broken limbs, having three pay check jobs and two freelance jobs, losing the pay check jobs, losing friends, and being dropped from the AROTC scholarship list at Embry Riddle due to government funding cuts (in other words I wasn't good enough to lose money over.)

Having everything fall apart like that after an incalculable amount of time, effort, and emotion invested in my future was not how I planned senior year. After two weeks of bad decisions, and almost enlisting in the Air Force for 8 years, I gained my senses back and enrolled at Chandler Gilbert Community College, in the same classes I would be taking at Embry Riddle.

I learned to be flexible and trust in God. I will complete my freshman year at CGCC and transfer to Arizona State University. I have decided to keep fighting for my dream, no matter what gets in the way.

I wont learn to laugh about high school or freshman year for a while, but I quickly learned to love this new situation :) Keep your eyes open for the Semester summary post!

Happiness is up to you, not life.

Summer 2011: High School graduation

Graduation night was an interesting one. Being Home-Schooled I graduated with 351 students from across the state of Arizona, some people I have known most of my life, but only spent a lot of time with about 50 of them on a regular basis. So on my graduation night I met most of my "classmates". The lesson there is this: Homeschooling is a Bizarre experience and I wonder what I will tell my kids in 20 years.

This summer has turned to hell, I have come to the ill realization that I started this endeavor too late in my life and cannot meet college deadlines the first semester out of high school. So now what? I take a full gap year to finish my associates at CGCC, and work three jobs and transfer to Embry Riddle or ASU in the Fall of 2012.

So, in the mean time I am isolating myself from distractions and wont stop working until I get where I need to be. More specifically:

How I'm making money:

  • Tech Support for a small company called Kendall Tech.
  • Freelance welding jobs.
  • House sitting, tutoring, babysitting.
  • Helped several small businesses with their online presence, random work for them.

I have been miserable and hating myself for not being able to be better at life. But I pray and I have wonderful people who keep me going, whom I spend every free moment with :)

Stay tuned for the Fall 2011 update!
